Lejla Covic, Defence attorney of indictee Kameric, presented a decision by the Crisis Committee of Bosanski Brod municipality dated April 28, 1992, but she did not specify what she wanted to prove with the mentioned decision.
Covic said that she gave up the second piece of evidence, namely a decision issued by the Crisis Committee of Bosanski Brod municipality on May 12, 1992, because the mentioned piece of evidence had been presented before.
Indira Kameric, former member of the 101stBosanski Brod Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, is charged with having participated in physical and mental torture and inhumane treatment of Serb and Bosniak civilians and prisoners of war, who were held in the police premises and at “Polet” stadium in Bosanski Brod from April to October 1992.
Defence attorney Covic said that, after having found out from the media that an indictment against Mladen Kurdija was filed, she inspected the case and singled out the pieces of evidence, which she considered important for Indira Kameric’s defence.
“The Defence approached the competent prosecutor, inspected the case and selected the pieces of evidence, which it intends to propose as Defence evidence at this trial,” Covic said.
The Prosecution of BiH charges Mladen Kurdia, former Commander of military police with the 101stBrigade of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, with having committed murders, forced disappearances and rape of Serb civilians in Bosanski Brod.
According to the official schedule, the next hearing in this case is due to be held on December 25.
