The custody measure was proposed due to a danger that he might flee and influence the witnesses and injured parties.
“The suspect has citizenship of Serbia. The witnesses and injured parties live in the Hrasnica area. The suspect may easily influence them. In the upcoming period the Prosecution intends to examine certain witnesses, who have findings about this event,” said Prosecutor Vladimir Simovic.
He said that the Prosecution intended to file an indictment soon, adding that, at that moment, the custody measure could be terminated and prohibiting measures ordered instead.
In case the Court does not accept the custody order motion, the Prosecution will agree with prohibiting measures.
The Defence considers that there are no reasons for ordering the suspect into custody.
“I think that, in this case it would be better to order prohibiting measures than custody. The Prosecution has examined its key witnesses. Twenty years have passed. Had anyone wanted to influence the witnesses, he would have done it already,” Defence attorney Sefik Cviko said.
Suspect Lalicic said that he had no objection to prohibiting measures being ordered against him and that he was ready to come to each hearing.
Lalicic was arrested in Hrasnica, Ilidza municipality, on Monday, December 8.
The Prosecution suspects the former member of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, of having committed crimes against Serb victims in Hrasnica in 1992 and 1993.
He is suspected of having treated several detainees in an inhumane manner, physical abuse of those persons, as well as multiple rape and sexual abuse of a female person.
