Evidence about Coloman’s Movements During War

Prosecutor Gordana Tadic presented 22 pieces of material evidence, including a report issued by the Seventh Muslim Brigade of ABiH with which, as she said, she wanted to prove that a disciplinary measure was ordered against Coloman in 1993 and that he was expelled from the Brigade, as well as an entry from the indictee’s military record.
Coloman’s Defence said that the Prosecution’s evidence contained different dates of which he was expelled from the Brigade.
“One of the documents indicates that the indictee was expelled from the Brigade prior to the incriminated event. Therefore, it is not specifically said until when Jasmin Coloman was member of that Brigade,” said Senad Dupovac, Defence attorney of the indictee.
Coloman is on trial, as a member of the Reconnaissance Squad with the Seventh Muslim Brigade of ABiH, for having come, armed, in front of a centre in Poculice village, where Croat civilians were held, and opened fire from an automatic rifle, on April 24, 1993. The Prosecution alleges that three persons were killed and nine were wounded on that occasion.
The Prosecutor also presented death certificates for Ivo and Jozo Vidovic as well as Pero Papic, proving that they were killed during the event described in this indictment.
“They got killed on April 23, while the indictment refers to April 24. I therefore object to the relevance of this piece of evidence,” Dupovac said.
The Prosecution said that it would complete the presentation of its evidence by examining a witness from the United States while the Defence said that its evidence presentation plan depended on the witness’ testimony.
“If he confirms the Defence’s thesis, we would like to present a few pieces of material evidence only. Otherwise, we would like to examine four witnesses, conduct a crime scene inspection and present several pieces of material evidence,” Dupovac said.
The Prosecution said that it would inform the Trial Chamber on when this witness would be able to testify, so the trial continuation date could be set accordingly.
