Odzak Rapes Trial Next Week

Before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina next week begins the trial of four former members of the Croatian Defence Council charged with the rape of Serb women in Odzak.

On Tuesday, October 21, begins the trial of Marijan Brnjic, Martin Barukcic, and Pavo and Ilija Glavas, charged with bringing victims from various locations into houses and other facilities in the territory of Odzak in the summer of 1992, where they raped, beat, abused and humiliated them.
 
On the same day, before the Appeals Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the verdict which sentenced Najdan Maldjenoc and acquitted Savo Zivkovic for crimes committed in Bratunac will be appealed.
 
The first witness for the prosecution at the trial of Petar Kovacevic, charged with the expulsion of Bosniak population from the territory of Visegrad, will be examined on Monday, October 20. On the same day, Ekrem Ibracevic, Faruk Smajlovic and Sejdalija Covic would enter their plea on crimes committed in Srebrenik.
 
On the crime committed in Rogatica and Foca, Muhamed Sisic and Emir Drakovac would enter their plea on Tuesday, while the plea of Ramo Zilic and Esad Gakic, charged with crimes committed against Croatian and Serb civilians in Konjic, would be entered on Thursday, October 23, as well as Gligor Begovic’s plea for the crimes committed in Bijeljina.
 
Defendant Iulian-Nicolae Vintila will testify on his own behalf on Tuesday. He is on trial, together with Ramiz Avdovic, for crimes committed in the Viktor Bubanj army barracks in Sarajevo.

On Friday, the Bosnian prosecution and defence of Vehid Subotic will present their closing arguments at the trial for crimes in Zenica.

Monday will see the resumption of trial of Savo Tepic, Dragoslav Bojic, Dusko Vujicic, Dusko Maksimovic, Radojko Keverovic, Rade Skoric and Ilija Kurusic, for the crimes committed in Kotor-Varos, as well as Mensur Memic, Nihad Bojadzic, Dzevad Salcin, Nedzad Hodzic and Senad Hakalovic for the crime committed in the village of Trusina near Konjic, and Dragan Sekaric for the crimes committed in Gorazde and Visegrad.
 
The resumption of trials of Goran Vujovic, Miroslav Duka and Zeljko Ilic, for the crimes committed in Bileca, Oliver Krsmanovic for the crimes committed in Visegrad are planned for Tuesday. That same day, Novak Mitrovic will appear in court suspected of committing a crime in the territory of Zvornik.
 
The trial of Vitomir Rackovic, charged with committing crimes in the territory of Visegrad, would resume on Wednesday with examination of new witnesses, as well as the trial of Goran Popovic for the crime committed in the Visegrad camp at Uzamnica. On the same day, the trial of Zoran and Marinko Bjelica is set to resume, as well as the trial of Novica Tripkovic, for the crimes committed in Kalinovik.
 
Next week, Srebrenica genocide trials will resume too – the trial of Goran Saric on Monday, and the trial of Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic on Wednesday.
 
On Thursday, the trial of Indira Kameric for crimes committed in Bosanski Brod will resume, as well as the trial of Nihad Bojadzic for the crimes committed in Jablanica, Nikola Maric for the crimes committed in Prozor, and Ibro Macic for the crime committed in Konjic.
 
On the same day, the trial of Nedzad Hodzic and Dzevad Salcin, charged with the crimes committed at the Mount Igman will resume, as well as the trial of Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Serif Mesanovic, Halid Covic and Nermin Kalember, charged with the crimes committed in Hadzici.
 
The prosecution will present new evidence on Friday, October 24, at the trial of Safet Mujcinovic, Selman Busnov, Nusret Muhic, Zijad Hamzic, Ramiz Halilovic, Nedzad Hodzic, Osman Gogic and Kahro Vejzovic, charged with the crime committed in Kladanj.
 
On the same day, the trial of Jasmin Coloman for the crime committed in the territory of Vitez will resume, Josip Tolic for the crime committed in Bosanski Brod and Odzak.

The next week will see the resumption of trials before the Appeals Chamber of Mehuro Selimovic, Adil Ruznic and Emir Mustafic, charged with crimes committed in Krajina and of Goran Saric for the crime committed in the Sarajevo settlement of Nahorevo.
