Buljubasic said that his attorney Dzema Hasansgic can no longer defend him, because she didn’t certified documents which was suggested as his material evidence. Although Court said that certification of that documents is not necessary, defendant said that he don’t want to be represented by Hasanagic.
“If you want her to stay next to me, you must know that she can’t defend me. She is no longer my defense attorney, and I’m giving up on all this evidence”, Buljubasic said.
This is third attorney whose dismissal was requested by the defendant from beginning of the trial. Before, he was represented by Senija Poropat and Todor Todorovic.
Defense attorney Hasanagic said that she does not oppose her dismissal, while attorneys of other defendants’ pointed out that other accused also argue that right to defense of the defendant [Buljubasic] is violated. After that, Council decided to grant the request of the accused.
“We must postpone the hearing in order to engage new defence attorney“, Enida Hadziomerovic, preceding judge said.
Buljubasic is on trial for crimes against prisoners at the Dretelj camp, along with Ivan Zelenika, Srecko Herceg, Ivan Medic and Marina Grubisic-Fejzic.
Prosecution believes that defendants participated in forcing prisoners to the forced labor and in torture, and as the result of the abuse several people died.
The Trial Chamber accepted prosecution motion to present additional evidence, which, as they said, they couldn’t have earlier. Defense opposed the presentation of this evidence, noting that prosecution could have this evidence before.
The trial continues on October 28.
