Witness Rodoljub Milanovic, member of police station from Bratunac, told the Court that he was near the warehouse, when he heard shooting.

“It lasted a short time. It was a burst of fire,” the witness said, explaining that he and two colleagues guarded the road in the vicinity of Konjevic Polje in mid-July 1995 and that he saw buses, driving civilians from Srebrenica towards Vlasenica and Zvornik.

According to the witness, they were sent to the cross-roads in order to ensure normal flow of traffic in case of a traffic jam.

Also, the witness said that Srebrenica residents were taken to a house in the vicinity of the cross-roads and then transported by buses. As he said, “some deserters” arrived as well. They were deployed on the road leading from the school building to Bratunac. He said that he did not know to which unit they belonged or what their tasks were.

Saric is on trial for having participated in a joint criminal enterprise that resulted in the enforced relocation of 40,000 Bosniak residents and murder of more than 7,000 people from the Srebrenica area.

According to the charges, Saric commanded the Special Police Brigade, which participated in the forced relocation of women, children and the elderly as well as separation of men and boys, who were later on killed.

Responding to questions by the Defence, the witness said that he did not see Saric in July 1995.

The trial is due to continue on October 13.
