“In addition to constantly reminding the public that women, who survived sexual violence, live in our surroundings and that they have nearly no rights, journalist have to respect their privacy and the right not to speak about their experiences under their full first and last names,” Ucanbarlic said.

She said that the media revealed identity of women, who testified about sexual violence under protection measures at war-crimes trials, which made some women give up testifying at trials.

The Conference was organized by “The Forum of Women” from Bratunac in collaboration with six other organizations, which initiated “The Women Court” project aimed at advocating for the rights of raped women.

During the Conference it was pointed out that women, who were subjected to sexual violence during the war, needed material compensation and existence of minimal legal regulations.
