Witness Zoran Eric said that he was in the barn near the Kravica Agricultural centre in July 1995 when he heard a guard was killed, and then he heard shooting. Alter a while, he said, soldiers told him and two other men to cover the corpses, because “blue helmets would be passing by”.

“We went to the hangar and I saw corpses. Some were on their stomach and some on their backs. We covered them all”, he said, adding they were all male.

He also said that he later learned that the civil defense picked up the corpses.

Eric explained that he first arrived at the Kravica warehouse on July 11, 1995 after he was told he had to help with some livestock there. Upon arriving there, he said soldiers put him in the barn and told him not to leave.

“Before entering the barn I saw men surrendering, raising their hands. They were existing the woods”, he said.

He also added that while he was in the barn he could hear trucks and busses and a voice saying: “faster, faster”.

“That night they told us to stand behind the hanger so that Muslims wouldn’t escape, but we weren’t there since we ran away. We just heard screams from the hangar from afar”, said Eric, who testified at the trial of Goran Saric.

Eric said he didn’t know the defendant.

Saric is charged with knowingly helping members of a joint criminal enterprise in the genocide in Srebrenica, which resulted in the execution of 7,000 Bosniak men and boys in July 1995.

As the commander of the Bosnian Serb interior ministry’s special police brigade who was responsible for police units which were operating around Srebrenica at the time, he is accused of being involved in the capture and murder of Bosniaks from Srebrenica.

The questioning of a second witness at today’s hearing was postponed until his status is verified. As the Prosecution said, he was granted immunity for the events of July 13 in a separate case.

The trial continues on May 12.
