Custody for Zoran Bjelica Requested

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina requests custody for Zoran Bjelica and orders prohibiting measures for Marinko Bjelica, both of whom were arrested due to a suspicion that they committed crimes in Kalinovik.

The State Prosecution announced that it requested one-month custody due to existence of fear that the suspect might influence witnesses and accomplices while at liberty.

The State Investigation and Protection Agency, SIPA, arrested Marinko and Zoran Bjelica in Trnovo on Wednesday, December 18.

Results of the investigation indicate that the suspects, former members of local Serb military and police forces, came to the “Miladin Radojevic” school building in Kalinovik on August 1, 1992 and beat four Bosniak civilians up. One of the civilians died due to the beating.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina suspects them of having come to the school building again the following day and having killed three civilians, whose bodies were later exhumed in the Kalinovik area.
