Three Verdicts Due Next Week

In the week ahead the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is due to pronounce three verdicts against indictees, who are charged with crimes in Bugojno, Kljuc and Bratunac.

A first instance verdict against Savo Babic, who is charged with crimes in the Bratunac area, is due to be pronounced on Wednesday, December 18. The Prosecution charges Babic, former Commander of military police of the Republika Srpska Army in Bratunac, with having ordered, committed and failed to prevent the detention of non-Serb civilians in “Vuk Karadzic” school building in May 1992. According to the charges, the detained civilians were mistreated and some were even killed.  

On that same day the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is due to pronounce a second instance verdict against Nisvet Gasal, Musajb Kukavica and Senad Dautovic, who are charged with crimes in Bugojno. Under the first instance verdict, Dautovic was sentenced to 13 and Gasal to six years in prison for crimes in Bugojno, while Kukavica was acquitted of charges. The Appellate Chamber quashed the verdict and ordered a retrial.  

A second instance verdict against Marko Adamovic and Bosko Lukic is due to be pronounced on Friday, December 20. Under the first instance verdict pronounced in May 2011, they were acquitted of charges for crimes against humanity in Kljuc.
 
On Monday, December 16 a public session will be held before the Appellate Chamber in the case against Mirko (son of Mile) Pekez, at which appeals against the first instance verdict will be presented.  

On that same day the retrial before the Appellate Chamber is due to begin in the case against Mirko (son of Spiro) Pekez and Milorad Savic. The first instance verdict against them was quashed and serving of sentence discontinued. The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina ordered the discontinuation of sentences against a few persons, when the Constitutional Court determined that a wrong law was applied in their cases.
The trial of Pekez and Savic continues on Wednesday, December 18 as well.

A hearing at which a custody order motion for Nikola Andrun is due to be considered is scheduled for Monday. Andrun was released from prison, where he was serving his sentence for war crimes, due to wrong application of law. In August 2008 Andrun was sentenced, under a second instance verdict, to 18 years in prison for war crimes against the civilian population committed in Gabela detention camp, Capljina municipality.  

On Thursday, December 19 Indira Kameric, who is charged with crimes in Bosanski Brod in 1992, is due to enter her plea.

The trial of Branko Vlaco, who is charged with crimes in Vogosca, is due to continue on Monday. On that same day a hearing will be held in the case against Vitomir Rackovic, against whom an indictment was filed recently, charging him with participation in the persecution, rape and unlawful arrests of Bosniaks from Visegrad. The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was not able to say what the purpose of this hearing would be.  

On Monday and Tuesday the trial is due to continue in the case against Aleksandar Cvetkovic, who is charged with genocide in Srebrenica.

Edin Dzeko, who is charged with crimes in Trusina and Jablanica, is due to continue testifying in his defence on Tuesday.  

On that same day the Appellate Chamber will hold a session in the case against Zrinko Pincic, who was sentenced for crimes in Konjic and released to liberty due to wrong application of law.  

Defence witnesses are due to testify at the trial of Ivan Zelenika, Srecko Herceg, Edib Buljubasic, Ivan Medic and Marina Grubisic-Fejzic, who are charged with crimes in Dretelj in 1992, on Tuesday next week.  

On that same day the Defence is due to continue presenting evidence at the trial of Predrag Milisavljevic, Milos Pantelic and Ljubomir Tasic, who are charged with crimes in Visegrad. The trials of Savo Zivkovic and Najdan Mladjenovic for crimes in the Bratunac area, as well as Goran Saric, who is charged with genocide in Srebrenica, are due to continue on Tuesday as well.

The continuation of the trials of Zemir Kovacevic, who is charged with crimes in Bosanski Brod, and Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic, who are charged with genocide in Srebrenica, is scheduled for Wednesday.

The trial of Vehid Subotic, who is indicted for crimes in Dusina village, near Zenica, is due to continue on Wednesday and Friday.    

On Thursday the trials are due to continue in the case against Nihad Bojadzic, who is charged with crimes in Jablanica, and Nedzad Hodzic and Dzevad Salcin, who are charged with crimes on Mount Igman. The trial of Josip Tolic, who is charged with crimes in Bosanski Brod and Odzak, continues on that same day.

The trials of Ibro Macic, who is charged with crimes in Konjic, and Safet Mujcinovic, Selman Busnov, Nusret Muhic, Zijad Hamzic, Ramiz Halilovic, Nedzad Hodzic, Hariz Habibovic, Osman Gogic and Kahro Vejzovic, who are charged with crimes in the Kladanj area, are scheduled to continue on Friday.
