Prosecution’s Evidence Presentation Completed

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented a set of 19 pieces of material evidence in response to Defence’s evidence. The documents included orders and reports by “Knez Domagoj” First Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, issued in the period from April to July 1993. The documents also included a report on the work of military police in Capljina, as well as a list of members of “Knez Domagoj” First Brigade of HVO.Responding to the Prosecution’s evidence, Branko Karadeglic, Defence attorney of Veselko Raguz objected to relevance and authenticity of some of the documents presented. “These pieces of material evidence have nothing to do with the Defence’s evidence presented earlier to which they represent a response. The orders and reports presented by the Prosecution do not even refer to the Fourth Battalion, while some of the documents do not refer to the time period covered under the indictment,” Karadeglic said. The Defence of the second indictee too objected to authenticity and relevance of evidence.
Marko Raguz, Defence attorney of Ivo Raguz, said that the presented list of members was issued in the period not covered under the indictment, adding that the mentioned piece of evidence was not stamped at all.

He requested the Court to allow Ivo Raguz to testify in his defence prior to the presentation of closing statements.

Veselko Raguz, former Commander of the Fourth Battalion with “Knez Domagoj” Brigade of HVO, and Ivo Raguz, former member of that Brigade, are charged with having participated in crimes against civilian detainees in Stolac and Capljina in July and August 1993. The next hearing is due to be held on December 4.
