Slobodan Perendija said that he went to Novi Sad, Serbia with the defendant in May 1992 and that they spent two days there. Upon returning to Cajnice he learnt “some act was committed at Mostina”.

“When we arrived to the headquarters of the Territorial Defence, there was a commotion there and people were saying that one of the members of the Territorial Defence had killed some people,” said the witness.

He said that upon returning from Novi Sad he went through a checkpoint at Mostina which was empty.

Kornjaca is charged with crimes in Cajnice. The indictment against him alleges that in May 1992, after the death of a member of the Blue Eagles paramilitary unit, he participated in the murder of 28 civilians imprisoned at the Hunting Lodge at Mostina.

He is also charged, as the former commander of the Blue Eagles, with the expulsion of Bosniaks from Cajnice.

The second witness, Ratomir Milovic, said that in April 1992 he came to Mostina, where he saw the defendant and some people coming out of a metal trailer.

“People came out freely, started their cars and drove off,” he said, adding that Kornjaca did not harass anyone at the checkpoint.

The witness said he met the witness in 1991 or 1992.

“He seemed entertaining to me. He made me laugh with his behaviour and I liked that, although some people found him scary,” said Milovic.

The trial will resume on May 15.
