Defence in Stolac and Capljina Trial Begins

Next week the Defence teams of Veselko and Ivo Raguz will begin presenting evidence at the trial for crimes in Stolac and Capljina.

The first Defence witness for Veselko Raguz will be called on Wednesday, April 3. The two former members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO are on trial for illegal arrests and the abuse of civilians in the summer of 1993.

A status conference before the start of the retrial of Milan Peric, Spasoje Doder, Aleksandar Cerovina and Predrag Terzic, charged with illegal arrests of civilians in Kalinovik. The Appeals Chamber quashed the first instance verdict under which these four police officers were acquitted of charges.

The trial of Goran Saric for crimes in Sarajevo will resume on Monday, April 1.

On Tuesday, April 5, a new prosecution witness will testify against Edin Dzeko, a former member of the ‘Zulfikar’ unit of the Bosnian Army, who is on trial for crimes in Jablanica and Konjic.

That day, the trial of Najdan Mladjenovic and Savo Zivkovic for crimes in Bratunac, Ivan Zelenika, Srecko Herceg, Ivan Medic, Marina Grubisic-Fejzic and Edib Buljubasic for crimes in Capljina, as well as Fikret Planincic, Rasim Lisancic, Sead Menzil and Mirsad Vatrac for killings in Kotor-Varos will resume.

On Tuesday, two trials for war crimes in Visegrad will take place – Oliver Krsmanovic, as well as Predrag Milisavljevic Ljubomiru Tasic and Milos Pantelic.

Milun Kornjaca, charged with crimes in Cajnice will continue testifying on his own behalf on Wednesday, April 3. That day, the Bosnian prosecution will continue presenting evidence at the trial of Zoran Dragicevic for crimes in Sarajevo.

The prosecution will also continue its evidence hearing at the trial of Zemir Kovacevic for crimes in Bosanski Brod, Branko Vlaco who is on trial for crimes in Vogosca as we all Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic who are being tried for the Srebrenica genocide.

The trial of eight defendants who are on trial for crimes in Hadzici – Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic, Becir Hujic and Nermin Kalember – and the trial of Nihad Bojadzic for crimes in Jablanica will resume on Thursday, April 4.

On that same day, Zeljko Jukic will appear in the courtroom as his Prozor crimes trial continues.

On Friday, Busovaca crimes defendants Zoran Marinic and Zoran Milic will appear before the court, as will Ramiz Avdovic and Iulian Nicoale Vintila who are charged with crimes in Sarajevo.

A new prosecution witness will testify that day at the trial of Dragomir Soldat, Velemir Djuric and Zoran Babic for the killings in Prijedor.

Three retrials will also continue next week.
