Among the 65 exhibits that were entered into evidence at the hearing on Tuesday was video footage from “Execute, Christen, Expel”, a documentary by filmmaker Svjetlana Petrusic.
The video includes testimony from people who were imprisoned and abused in the primary school in Odzak.
One of the former prisoners said on film that during his stay in the school in Odzak, he was forced to have sexual intercourse with a female prisoner. The video also contains statements from prisoners who said that they were beaten and starved during their captivity.
Albina Terzic, a former member of the Military Police of the Croatian Defence Council, is the first woman to be charged with war crimes in Bosnia.
The prosecution alleges that she took part in inhuman treatment of the detained Serb civilians held in the primary school and a factory in Odzak.
Terzic is charged with beating the prisoners, letting dogs attack them, forcing them to have sexual intercourse with a mentally incapacitated person and other forms of severe sexual violence.
Since the prosecution has finished presenting its evidence, Terzic’s defence team announced it would start questioning witnesses, probably four of them, at the next hearing.
Tomislav Ljubic, the defendant’s lawyer, announced that the defence would prove that in the period between May and July 1992 Terzic was not in the territory of Odzak.
“At the time specified in the indictment, my defendant was in the territory of Kutjevo. She was registered as a refugee there and was getting humanitarian aid, which the defence will prove”, added Ljubic.
The next trial is scheduled for March 27, 2012.
