Hakalovic will be handed over to a prosecutor who will question him and make a decision on the eventual filing of a custody order motion.

Hakalovic is suspected of having failed to undertake “necessary and reasonable measures” to punish the perpetrators of the crime committed in Trusina, despite the fact that he knew that members of the “Neretvica” 45th Mountain Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ARBiH, and the “Zulfikar” Special Purposes Squad with the ARBiH General Command participated in the crime.

The Prosecution alleges that an attack on Trusina village was conducted on April 16, 1993, when 19 civilians and 3 captured members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, who had previously surrendered, were killed. Several people, including two children, were wounded on that occasion.

The State Prosecution’s announcement says that Hakalovic had “actual and effective control” over members of the 45th Mountain Brigade of the ARBiH.

Nedzad Hodzic, Mensur Memic, Dzevad Salcin and Senad Hakalovic are indicted for the same crimes before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, the Prosecution suspects Nihad Bojadzic, Jusuf Hadzajlija and Zulfikar Alispago of these crimes.

Rasema Handanovic and Edin Dzeko are reported to have been arrested in the US on suspicion that they participated in these crimes.
