The BH Court has rejected a Prosecution and Defense proposal to transfer Faruk Prcic’s case to a lower Court, noting that the “conditions for this are not fulfilled”.

The Prosecution and Defense had proposed that the case be transferred to a local authorized Court as it is “not complex or extensive”.

Prcic, former commander of the engineering unit of the Second Corps of the Army of BiH, is charged with participating, from June to October 1992, in the unlawful detention, torture and inhumane treatment of Serb detainees in the Tuzla area.

The indictment states that the civilians were held in premises of the Miners’ institute in Tuzla, where they were physically and psychologically abused on a daily basis.

The BH Court confirmed the indictment in February 2009 and Prcic pleaded not guilty in March. He is defending himself while at liberty.
