Week ahead: Closing Arguments and Indictees’ Testimony

The Defence of Marko Radic, Dragan Sunjic, Damir Brekalo and Mirko Vracevic will continue presenting closing arguments on February 5 and 6.
The Prosecution charges the four former members of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, with crimes against humanity committed in Vojno detention camp, near Mostar, in the period from July 1993 to March 1994. The indictees are charged with participation in the murder, torture, rape and detention of Bosniaks, including women and children.
On Wednesday, February 4 Milko Mucibabic, a former policeman from Nevesinje, is due to appear as Defence witness. Mucibabic and Krsto Savic, former chief of the Safety Services Center in Trebinje, are charged with crimes committed against Bosniaks from eastern Herzegovina.
One day later indictee Suljo Karajic, former commander of the Military Police Squad with the Fifth Corps of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is due to appear as a witness in his own defence. The State Prosecution charges him with war crimes against civilians and prisoners of war committed in the broad area of Bihac in the course of 1993 and 1994.
On Monday, February 2 and Wednesday, February 4 the trials are due to continue in the cases of Momir Savic, a former member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, who is charged with crimes committed in Visegrad, and Nisvet Gasal, Musajb Kukavica, Enes Handzic and Senad Dautovic, charged with crimes committed against Bosnian Croats from Bugojno.
The Defence of Predrag Kujundzic is due to continue presenting evidence on February 2 and 6. The former commander of the “Predini vukovi” (“Predo’s Wolves”) Unit is charged, by the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with crimes committed in Doboj.
At the trial of Milorad Trbic, who is charged with genocide committed in Srebrenica, the Trial Chamber is expected to render a decision concerning presentation of additional evidence, previously proposed by the Prosecution.
New Defence witnesses are due to testify at the trial of Ante Kovac on February 3 and 5. The former commander of the Military Police Squad with the Vitez HVO Brigade is charged with the detention of Bosniak civilians in various buildings in Vitez, as well as the rape of two women.
On February 3, 4 and 5 the trial is due to continue in the case of Radomir Vukovic and Zoran Tomic, former policemen, who are accused of participating in genocide in Srebrenica and the murder of more than 1,000 men in Kravica on July 13, 1995.
On February 4 the Prosecution is due to continue presenting evidence on the participation of Vinko Kondic, Bosko Lukic and Marko Adamovic in crimes committed in the Kljuc area in 1992. On the same day the trial is due to continue in the case of Gojko Klickovic, Jovan Ostojic and Mladen Drljaca, charged with crimes committed in Bosanska Krupa in 1991 and 1992.
The trial of Ratko Bundalo, Nedjo Zeljaja and Djordjislav Askraba, who are charged with crimes committed in Kalinovik in 1992, is due to continue on Thursday, February 5.
