Radic et al: Examination of witness postponed

As the defence did not submit the documents they wanted to present during the witness’s examination on time to the Prosecution, his testimony has been halted and will continue at the next hearing on 15 September.
These are documents signed by witness Mato Anicic, former commander of the 5th battalion’s second company of Croat Defence Council (HVO) Military police who’s member was Dragan Sunjic, the second indictee in this case.
Together with Sunjic, the Prosecution holds responsible Marko Radic, Damir Brekalo and Mirko Vracarevic for the events in Vojno near Mostar, where in 1993 and 1994, men, women and children of Bosniak nationality were held.
In accordance with the indictment, prisoners were beaten, mistreated, murdered, raped and taken as forced labour.
”Sunjic was dismissed from the Military police in September 1993. I heard that he left for Marko Radic’s force known as the Maka unit”, stated the witness.
According to the indictment, Radic was, between July 1993 and March 1994, commander of the First Bijelo polje battalion of the HVO brigade whose area of responsibility was Vojno in Mostar municipality, in which the detention camp was built.
Anicic stated that during the months of July and August 1993, the Military police was providing security in Vojno. The witness claims that ”only during the prisoners exchange did he realise that civilians were imprisoned in Vojno.”
The Defence tried to present the witness the reports from the Military police which contains his signature and was not previously delivered to the Prosecution because the testimony was ceased.
