The four indictees, who are charged with crimes in the Zvornik area, failed to appear at the status conference, at which the Defence teams announced they would examine more than 20 witnesses. It was also determined that the Defence would start presenting evidence on Thursday, June 26, 2008.

This is the first time a status conference is held before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the indictees not present.

Sreten Lazarevic, Dragan Stanojevic, Mile Markovic and Slobodan Ostojic are charged with having participated in the detention, beating and defrauding valuables from captured civilians in the Offence Court building and “Novi izvor” building in Zvornik in 1992.

The four Defence teams announced that they would examine more than 20 witnesses, including a certain number of joint witnesses, “a police expert” and a court medicine expert, who will speak about “the bodily injuries caused to the detainees.”

In October 2007, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment, to which the four indictees pleaded not guilty.
