Former reservist policeman Slavko Milovanovic was acquitted of ordering the burning of Bosniaks’ homes during an attack by Bosnian Serb forces on a village near Srebrenica in May 1992. The appeals chamber of the Bosnian state court in Sarajevo on Friday acquitted former reservist policeman Slavko Milovanovic of committing a crime against humanity in the village of Resagici near Srebrenica in May 1992.

Former reservist policeman Slavko Milovanovic is being retried for alleged crimes against humanity after initially being acquitted of ordering the burning of Bosniaks’ homes in an attack on a village near Srebrenica in May 1992. The Bosnian state court’s appeals chamber on Thursday began the retrial of Slavko Milovanovic, a former member of the reservist police force at the Public Security Station in the village of Skelani in the Srebrenica municipality, for alleged crimes against humanity.

The prosecution appealed against the acquittal of former policeman Slavko Milovanovic, who was cleared of ordering the burning of Bosniaks’ homes during an attack on the village of Resagici near Srebrenica in May 1992. The Bosnian state prosecution launched an appeal on Tuesday calling for the verdict which cleared Slavko Milovanovic of committing crimes against humanity in the village of Resagici in May 1992 to be quashed and a retrial ordered.

Former reservist policeman Slavko Milovanovic was acquitted of committing crimes against humanity by ordering the burning of Bosniaks’ homes during an attack on the village of Resagici near Srebrenica in May 1992. The Bosnian state court on Wednesday acquitted Slavko Milovanovic, a former member of the reserve police forces at the Public Security Station in the village of Skelani in the Srebrenica municipality, of crimes against humanity.

In its closing statement, former Serb reservist policeman Slavko Milovanovic’s defence called on the court to acquit him of persecuting Bosniak civilians in the Skelani area near Srebrenica in 1992. Slavko Milovanovic’s defence lawyer asked the Bosnian state court on Wednesday to acquit his client of crimes against Bosniaks in the village of Resagici in the Skelani area during the war in 1992.

In her closing statement, the defence lawyer for former Bosnian Serb soldier Sasa Curguz said he was not guilty of murders and torture in the Bihac area in 1992. Presenting her closing statement at the state court in Sarajevo on Wednesday, Sasa Curguz’s defence lawyer Anja Loga said that the prosecution had neither proved that a widespread and systematic attack against civilians was conducted in the Bihac area in 1992 nor that the defendant’s actions were part of it.
