The Bosnian state court on Wednesday accepted a settlement agreement between Ilija Vukasinovic and the attorney general’s office to pay the former Bosnian Serb soldier 7,000 Bosnian marks (about 3,570 euros) in compensation for the time he spent under house arrest.

Vukasinovic sued Bosnia and Herzegovina for the mental distress he suffered while under house arrest for 199 days during his trial, which ended in his acquittal.

In May 2017, the Bosnian state court’s appeals chamber cleared Vukasinovic of crimes against humanity, along with ex-soldiers Radomir Markovic, Mile Kusic, Dragan Bozovic, Sasa Perkovic, Radomir Gluhovic, Pero Radovic and Milos Vukasinovic.

The court found the eight former Bosnian Serb troops not guilty of taking part in expulsions and looting, as well as of killing around 20 civilians including women and children in a barn in the village of Karacici in the Rogatica area in September 1992.
