Nineteen War-Crimes Trials to Continue in the Week Ahead

Following the summer break, 19 war-crimes trials are due to continue before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming week.

On Monday, August 19 the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is due to examine two new witnesses at the trial of Dragomir Soldat, Velemir Djuric and Zoran Babic, who are charged with crimes in Prijedor. Soldat, Djuric and Babic are charged with the shooting of men in Carakovo village on July 23, 1992.

A Defence witness is due to be examined at the trial of Milun Kornjaca, who is indicted for crimes in the Cajnice area, on Wednesday, August 21. Kornjaca is charged with having participated in the murder of 28 civilians, who were detained in the hunters’ house at Mostina, in May 1992.  

The trial of Ivan Zelenika, Srecko Herceg, Edib Buljubasic, Ivan Medic and Marina Grubisic-Fejzic, who are charged with crimes in a prison, near Capljina, is due to continue on Tuesday, August 20, when the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina will examine a protected witness.

On that same day the trials are due to continue in the case of Oliver Krsmanovic, who is charged with crimes in Visegrad, and Fikret Planincic, Rasim Lisancic, Sead Menzil and Mirsad Vatrac, who are charged with crimes in Kotor-Varos.

On Monday and Wednesday the trials are due to continue in the case of Branko Vlaco for crimes in Vogosca, as well as Veselko and Ivo Raguz, who are indicted for crimes in Stolac and Capljina. The trial of Najdan Mladjenovic and Savo Zivkovic, who are charged with crimes in Bratunac, is scheduled to continue on Monday and Tuesday.

The continuation of the trial of Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember, who are charged with crimes in the Hadzici area, is scheduled for Monday and Thursday, August 22.

The trial of Zemir Kovacevic, who is charged with crimes in Bosanski Brod, is due to continue on Wednesday, while the trial of Ramiz Avdovic and Iulian-Nicolae Vintila for crimes in Sarajevo continues on Monday and Friday, August 23.

The Defence of Zeljko Jukic will examine three new witnesses on Thursday. Jukic is on trial for crimes committed in Prozor in 1993.

On Friday new State Prosecution witnesses are due to testify at the trial of Nihad Bojadzic, who is charged with crimes committed in Jablanica.

The retrial of Marko Adamovic and Bosko Lukic, who are charged with crimes in Kljuc municipality, is due to continue before the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina next week.
