The director of the Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, OSA BiH, Osman Mehmedagic, and the head of its Cyber Security Department, Muhamed Pekic, appeared before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and pleaded not guilty to charges for abuse of office or authority.

At the hearing, they said they understood the indictment that charges them with abuse of office or authority, and were aware of the sentence prescribed for the said offence.

On October 22, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against Mehmedagic and Pekic, charging them with abuse of office or authority, and of OSA resources and capacities, for private and personal interests.

The two allegedly wanted to obtain information and photographs of the sender of an anonymous criminal report against the OSA director during the course of August 2020. The indictment was confirmed on November 4.

“In performing these actions, the accused repeatedly abused their office, as well as the official procedures and official actions established by law, and violated the right to inviolability of written and postal communication guaranteed by the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Conventions on Human Rights,” the Prosecution said in an earlier announcement.

The next hearing will take place before a different judge.
