The court therefore entered a not guilty plea, in accordance with the law.

A date for the beginning of Berbic’s trial will be set in the upcoming period. An indictment was filed last month, charging him with terrorism for fighting for the so-called Islamic State.

According to the charges, Berbic left Bosnia and Herzegovina in mid-2014. It is further alleged that during his stay in Syria he was filmed for Islamic State propaganda material.

After the collapse of Islamic State and the capture of its remaining members, Berbic was deported to his home country at the end of 2019.
