Prosecutors Question Bosnian Suspected of Fighting in Syria

Jasmin Keserovic remained silent during questioning at the Bosnian prosecutor’s office on December 26, his defense lawyer Senad Dupovac told BIRN Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina today invited Jasmin Keserovic to put forward his defence. He was presented with the charges pressed against him,” said Dupovac.

“On December 20, he filed a request to either be allowed to make a phone call or receive a visit by his mother and father, but it has still not been approved. He has neither received a positive nor a negative response, so he is still waiting. He said he would not put forward his defence at this stage, he would defend himself with silence, but he left open the possibility of presenting his defence later on, once his parents had visited him,” Dupovac explained.

Dupovac also represents Armen Dzelko and Muharem Dunic, who were also repatriated from Syria and are suspected of organising a terrorist group and fighting in Syria.

Neither has been questioned by the prosecution yet, and Dupovac suggested that Dzelko and Dunovic be transferred from Orasje and Busovaca to the state court’s detention unit.

Four other men suspected of fighting abroad – Emir Alisic, Senad Kasupovic, Miralem Berbic and Hamza Labidi – were also transferred to Bosnia and Herzegovina by plane last week and ordered into custody by the state court.
