The state prosecution has charged Goran Vujovic, Miroslav Duka and Zeljko Ilic with the abuse of Bosniak and Croat civilians in Bileca during 1992.

According to the charges, Vujovic was the chief of the public safety station in Bileca, Duka was the commander of the station and Ilic was a police officer.

At today’s hearing, state prosecutor Behaija Krnjic presented police documents which indicated that police forces arrested Bosniaks. He said the evidence showed that police forces functioned independently, and were not subordinate to the military.

Krnjic also presented evidence on the existence of detention facilities and lists of detainees in the municipality of Bileca.

The defense teams objected to the relevance, authenticity and lawfulness of most of the evidence included in the case file at today’s hearing.

The defense teams said certain documents didn’t refer to the time period covered by the indictment, while others didn’t mention the defendants. They also objected to unsigned documents obtained from the Hague Tribunal, arguing that it was unclear who had written them.

The trial will continue on December 7, when the prosecution will continue presenting material evidence.
