Djakic, the former commander of the First Battalion of the 108th Brigade of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) in Bosanska Posavina, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of killing a Bosnian Serb prisoner and failing to stop the killing of three wounded Serb prisoners of war.

According to the Bosnian prosecution, which ordered the arrest, Djakic killed prisoner Janko Maricic during an HVO attack on a village near Brcko in September 1992 and failed to stop the other three killings.

“During the attack on the village of Bukvik near Brcko on September 15, 1992, Djakic did not stop a member of his unit who killed Zivan Radic, Vlajko Puric and Savo Veselinovic,” the prosecution said.

The prosecution said that Djakic also failed to punish the soldier after the crime.

Djakic will be handed over to the prosecution which will question him and decide whether to file a custody motion.

The prosecution also said that it is continuing its investigation into the killings of over 50 Serb civilians in Bukvik in 1992.
