Trial for Crimes in Batkovic Detention Camp Begins Next Week

The trial of Gligor Begovic, who is charged with crimes in Bakovic detention camp, near Bijeljina, is due to begin before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, next week.

The beginning of the trial is scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, when the Prosecution of BiH will read the indictment against Begovic, former member of the Republika Srpska Army, and present its introductory statement.  

He is charged with having beaten and abused detainees in Batkovic detention camp and forced some of them to perform sexual acts on several occasions. 

The Defence of Marinko Bjelica, former member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, who is charged with crimes in Kalinovik, is due to begin presenting evidence on Wednesday. He is on trial, along with Zoran Bjelica and Novica Tripkovic, former members of the Republika Srpska Army, for having committed torture and murder of Bosniak civilians, who were detained in the “Miladin Radojevic” school building in Kalinovik.  

One day later, on November 27, a pre-trial status conference is due to be held in the case against Mitar and Rade Vlasenko, as well as Drago Koncar, who are charged with crimes in Prijedor. 

The Defence of Vitomir Rackovic, Dragan Sekaric and Goran Popovic, who stand separate trials for crimes in Visegrad, are due to continue presenting evidence on Wednesday. On that same day a court medicine expert is due to be examined at the trial of Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic, who are charged with genocide in Srebrenica. 

The trials of Nihadu Bojadzic, who is charged with crimes in Jablanica, Nikola Maric, who is indicted for crimes in Prozor, as well as Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember, who are charged with crimes in Hadzici, are due to continue on Thursday.

Appeals against a verdict against Musajb Kukavica, under which he was sentenced to four years in prison for having committed crimes in a detention camp at a football stadium in Bugojno, are due to be presented on Friday.

Josip Tolic, who is charged with crimes in Odzak and Bosanski Brod, is due to testify in his defence on Friday. On that same day the trials are due to continue in the case against Jasmin Coloman, who is charged with crimes in Vitez, as well as Safet Mujcinovic, Selman Busnov, Zijad Hamzic, Nusret Muhic, Nedzad Hodzic, Osman Gogic, Ramiz Halilovic and Kahro Vejzovic, who are charged with crimes in Kladanj. 

On Friday a hearing will be held in the case against Enes Curic, Ibrahim Demirovic, Samir Kreso, Habib Copelj and Mehmed Kaminic, who are indicted for crimes in Mostar.
