Nedjeljko Kuljic, who was charged with crimes against Bosniaks and Croats in Bileca, died – the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, announced.

The proceeding against Kuljic was previously separated from the case against the three other indictees due to his illness.

As the trial of Goran Vujovic, Miroslav Duka and Zeljko Ilic continued, the Trial Chamber said that indictee Kuljic died, but the trial of the three others would continue, because the case had already been separated.

The trial in this case began on June 17 this year. Kuljic failed to appear at some of the hearings due to his health condition. At that time the Defence explained that he suffered from a serious illness.

According to the charges, Vujovic was Chief of the Public Safety Station in Bileca, Duka was Commander of Police, while Kuljic and Ilic were policemen.

Vujovic and Duka are charged with having enabled and organised the detention of Bosniak and Croat civilians in the Public Safety Station building and Students’ Dormitory in Bileca, where detainees were killed, tortured and abused, while Kuljic and Ilic are charged with having participated in the physical and mental abuse, torture and murder of Bosniaks and Croats.
