Indictment against Petar Kovacevic Filed

The State Prosecution files an indictment against Petar Kovacevic, former member of the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, charging him with crimes in the Visegrad area in the period from May to August 1992.

The Prosecution has charged Kovacevic with having persecuted the Bosniak population by participating in the large-scale detention, murders, rape and destruction of property.

“Kovacevic is charged with having participated, in collaboration with a group of armed soldiers, in an attack against the Bosniak population in Visegrad municipality and surrounding villages Zlatnik, Turjak and Zanozje, when two civilians were killed from firearms. During the attack some houses were set on fire after being shot at from firearms. Three women were burnt inside those houses,” the indictment alleges.

According to the unconfirmed indictment, Kovacevic is charged with having killed a civilian in Dobrun village, Visegrad municipality, and raped two women.

The indictment has been filed with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH, for confirmation.
