Rudolf Tolusic, former HOS member, told the Court that he kept watch at the gate in Dretelj, near Capljina, but he never saw indictee Medic in that facility.

“I know him, because I have been a taxi driver for a long time and I used to see him before the war. He worked with the Communal Factory. He planted flowers. His nickname was Ikan,” the witness said, adding that he had never heard that Medic’s nickname was Poskok.

Some State Prosecution witnesses previously said that detainees were abused by a person named Ivan Medic, also known as Poskok.

Medic, Ivan Zelenika, Srecko Herceg, Edib Buljubasic and Marina Grubisic-Fejzic are charged with having committed crimes in Dretelj. According to the charges, they participated in forcing detainees to perform hard labour and torturing them.

The Prosecution alleges that Zelenika was a HOS officer, Herceg was Commander of Dretelj, Buljubasic was Deputy Commander of the military barracks in Dretelj, while Medic and Grubisic-Fejzic were guards.

Tolusic said that some military policemen were present in Dretelj but Medic was not a member of the military police.

When asked by Herceg’s Defence whether he used to see the indictee in Dretelj, the witness answered negatively, adding that “Herceg used to train people in Hardomilje village”. He said that he did not know indictee Grubisic-Fejzic and that he “heard about” Buljubasic.

Speaking about HOS’ goals, Tolusic said that HOS fought for an integral and unified Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Although Medic was supposed to testify in his defence at this hearing, the Defence said that it gave up on that proposal.

The Trial Chamber said that it would make a break in the trial until March 18 in order to enable the new Defence team of indictee Buljubasic to familiarise itself with the case.
