Trial for Visegrad Crimes Begins

Rackovic is charged with having participated in the detention, torture and forced disappearances of people, as well as rape and other inhumane acts committed in 1992. The beginning of his trial is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12.
On that same day the retrial is due to begin in the case against Mehura Selimovic, Adil Ruznic and Emir Mustafic, who are charged with crimes against the civilian population and prisoners of war in Krajina.
In December last year the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina quashed a first instance verdict under which Selimovic, Ruznic and Mustafic were sentenced to a total of 25 years in prison and ordered a new trial.
The Defence of Najdan Mladjenovic and Savo Zivkovic, who are charged with crimes in the Bratunac area in 1992, are due to present their closing statements on Tuesday, February 11.
On Monday, February 10 the trials are due to continue in the case against Dragomir Soldat, Zoran Babic and Velemir Djuric, who are charged with the shooting of men in Carakovo village, and Mensur Memic, Dzevad Salcin, Senad Hakalovic, Nedzad Hodzic, Nihad Bojadzic and Zulfikar Alispago, who are charged with crimes in Trusina.
The trial of Aleksandar Cvetkovic, who is indicted for genocide in Sreberenica, is due to continue on Tuesday, February 11 with examination of a protected State Prosecution witness.
On that same day the trials are due to continue in the case against Edin Dzeko, who is charged with crimes in Trusina and Jablanica, and Predrag Milisavljevic, Milos Pantelic and Ljubomir Tasic for crimes in Visegrad, as well as Goran Saric, who is charged with genocide in Srebrenica.
On Wednesday new witnesses are due to testify at the trials of Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic, who are charged with genocide in Srebrenica, and Branko Vlaco, who is indicted for crimes in the Vogosca area.
The continuation of the retrial of Drazen Mikulic, who is charged with crimes in Dretelj detention camp, Capljina, is scheduled for Monday.
