Closing Statements at Momir Pelemis Trial

The presentation of closing statements is scheduled for Thursday, May 30. Pelemis, former Deputy Commander of the First Battalion of Zvornik Brigade with the Republika Srpska Army, VRS, is charged with having assisted in the execution of more than a thousand captured Srebrenica residents. Under a first instance verdict, which was quashed by the Appellate Chamber, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison. On Wednesday, May 29 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina will render a decision concerning the new Defence witnesses of Milun Kornjaca, who is charged with crimes committed in Cajnice in the first half of 1992.
Five more trials are due to continue that same day, including the trials of Zoran Dragicevic and Branko Vlaco for crimes in Sarajevo. Five new State Prosecution witnesses will be examined at the trial of Zemir Kovacevic, who is charged with crimes in Sijekovci village, near Bosanski Brod.
On Wednesday new Prosecution witnesses are due to be examined at the trial of Ostoja Stanisic and Marko Milosevic, who are charged with genocide in Srebrenica and the participation in the murder of about 1,000 captives on a dam in Petkovci village, near Zvornik, while Defence witnesses will testify at the trial of Veselko Raguz and Ivo Raguz, who are charged with crimes in Stolac and Capljina.
On Monday, May 27 the trials are due to continue in the case against Savo Babic, who is charged with crimes in Bratunac, and Mensur Memic, Dzevad Salcin, Senad Hakalovic, Nedzad Hodzic, Nihad Bojadzic and Zulfikar Alispago, who are charged with crimes in Trusina village, near Konjic.
One day later, on Tuesday, four State Prosecution witnesses are due to appear at the trial of Oliver Krsmanovic, who is charged with crimes in Visegrad. These witnesses were announced more than a month ago.
On that same day the trials are due to continue in the case against Ivan Zelenika, Srecko Herceg, Edib Buljubasic, Ivan Medic and Marina Grubisic-Fejzic, who are charged with crimes in Dretelj military prison, near Capljina, Edin Dzeko, who is on trial for crimes in Trusina and Jablanica, and Fikret Planincic, Rasim Lisancic, Sead Menzil and Mirsad Vatrac, who are indicted for murders committed in Serdari village, near Kotor-Varos.
On that same day State Prosecution witnesses are due to testify against Predrag Milisavljevic, Milos Pantelic and Ljubomir Tasic, who are on trial for crimes against civilians in Visegrad, while a medical court expert will testify at the trial of Najdan Mladjenovic and Savo Zivkovic, who are charged with crimes in Bratunac.
The trial of Zoran Marinic and Zoran Milic, who are charged with crimes in Bugojno, continues on Thursday, as well as the trials of Zeljko Jukic, who is charged with persecutions and murders in Prozor, and Mustafa Djelilovic, Fadil Covic, Mirsad Sabic, Nezir Kazic, Becir Hujic, Halid Covic, Serif Mesanovic and Nermin Kalember, who are indicted for crimes in Hadzici.
On Friday, May 31 the Prosecution is due to continue presenting evidence at the trials of Dragomir Soldat, Velemir Djuric and Zoran Babic, who are charged with crimes in Carakovo village, near Prijedor, and Ramiz Avdovic and Iluian Vintila for crimes in Viktor Bubanj military barracks in Sarajevo.
In the week ahead the retrials are due to continue in the case against Marko Adamovic and Bosko Lukic, who are charged with crimes in Kljuc, Milan Peric, Spasoje Doder, Predrag Terzic and Aleksandar Cerovina, who are indicted for crimes in Kalinovik, as well as Nisvet Gasal, Musajb Kukavica and Senad Dautovic, who are charged with crimes in Bugojno.
