In its appeal filed with the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina the Prosecution said that the sentence was too short, requesting the Chamber to revise the verdict and sentence Terzic to long-term imprisonment. According to the verdict passed down in October 2012, Terzic, former member of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, treated Serb civilians, who were detained in the school building and the Strolit factory in Odzak from May to July 1992, in an inhumane manner. She was pronounced guilty of having hit detainees on their necks, shoulders and heads with a baton, slapped them, encouraged a dog to attack them, tortured, abused, humiliated and insulted them in various ways. The Court considered the facts that Terzic was young when she committed the crime, that she had not been sentenced before and that she behaved in a proper manner during the trial as mitigating circumstances.
