The procedure has been completed by adopting an agreement on the disciplinary responsibility, under which it was proposed to impose disciplinary measures against Milorad Barasin that include transferring him from the position of chief prosecutor to the position of prosecutor with the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and reducing his salary by ten percent over the period of three months, the announcement says.
On July 1, 2011 Barasin was suspended from the position of the Chief Prosecutor with the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina as per a decision rendered by the disciplinary commission after the media broadcast recordings of the then Chief Prosecutor accompanied by persons, who were allegedly under investigation for criminal activities.
As previously announced by HJPC representatives, there was a suspicion that Barasin damaged the reputation of the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina by acting in that way.
According to the decision, Barasin can continue performing his job as prosecutor as of tomorrow, May 15.
Following Barasic’s suspension, Jadranka Lokmic-Misiraca was appointed as acting Chief Prosecutor until the completion of the disciplinary procedure.
We have not been able to obtain information from the HJPC, about the issuance of a vacancy announcement for the Chief Prosecutor position now that the disciplinary procedure against Barasic has been completed definitively.
