A decision rendered by the Registry of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, ICTY says that Hadzic told the Tribunal that he wished to be represented by Petrovic at his initial appearance before Hague Tribunal judges. Petrovic will represent Hadzic until a permanent defence counsel is assigned.

Hadzic is due to appear before the Tribunal on Monday, July 25, when he will have a chance to enter a plea.

Hadzic was arrested in Serbia on Wednesday, July 20 this year after having been on the run for more than seven years.

The Hague Prosecution charges Hadzic with crimes against humanity and the violation of the laws and customs of war in Croatia during the course of 1991 and 1992.
