Such a meeting is scheduled to take place in Tuzla on June 1st, with representatives of judicial organizations from Tuzla and Bijeljina, and media outlets reporting from those regions.

The goal of the meeting is to improve cooperation between judicial institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the media, in a way as not to endanger ongoing investigations and with full respect for the ethical codex and basic rules of professional reporting.

At the AIS meeting, reporters spoke about problems they are facing when monitoring the work of the State court and prosecution.

Journalists once again reminded they are faced with a problem when reporting because they are no longer entitled to receive indictments from judicial institutions, after they were removed from websites in respect with a decision by the Agency for protection of personal information of BiH.

Reporters said they can get indictments when they send a written request, but they have to wait for a long time until it is rewritten.

Also, journalists said that these indictments often have large portions blacked out, so they are unable to make sense of the most basic information, which are not even in connection to personal information of accused or witnesses.

At the meeting, AIS representatives noted other demands they are trying to work out with officials from the Public relations office of judicial organizations, such as organizing monthly briefings.

Public relations officers said they lack capacities to hold briefings for journalists, while reporters said they would find such meetings very helpful, and reminded of practices of the Hague tribunal.

AIS officials agrees that the Tuzla meeting would be attended by BIRN and IWPR journalists, so they could share experiences with media workers in Tuzla, who are reporting from judicial information in that region.

The AIS journalists said they would continue to work on improving cooperation with representatives of judicial institutions. The meeting was attended by BIRN, BH Radio, FENA and IWPR journalists.
