Trial Chamber Chairman Stanisa Gluhajic said that Andjelinovic, a court medical expert from Split, was not able to come to the courtroom for health-related reasons, adding he would be examined at the next hearing, scheduled for December 23, via video link.

“The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent us a letter explaining that it had managed to get in touch with him, but he said he was not capable of testifying for health reasons.

“The expert witness has submitted the relevant medical documentation and agreed to testify from the County Court premises in Split via video link,” Gluhajic said.

Andjelinovic testified in early November 2010. On that occasion he spoke about the cause of death of Vlatko Kapetanovic. Indictee Alija Osmic is charged with Kapetanovic’s murder.

The Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina said it had received some documents about Vlatko Kapetanovic from the Institute for Missing Persons, INO, of Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding the documents had been forwarded to the expert witness in order for him to “complete” his findings.

The indictment alleges that Osmic, former military policeman with the 307th Brigade of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ABiH, participated in the detention, murder and torture of Croats who were detained in various buildings in the Bugojno area, and forced them to perform hard labour during the course of 1993 and 1994.

Among other things, the Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina alleges that, in late July 1993, Osmic participated in the murder of Vlatko Kapetanovic, who had been taken from the Marxist Center – Cloister Premises, where he was being detained.

It is alleged that Kapetanovic’s remains were found in September 1993.

During the course of his testimony in November 2010, expert witness Andjelinovic said that he attended the exhumation of the bodies of Vlatko Kapetanovic and “at least five other persons” in Causlije village, near Bugojno.

Andjelinovic said that he determined that Kapetanovic had “a bullet wound in his chest area”.
