Considering the fact that BIRN has taken upon itself to contact the relevant institutions in relation to the request made by the Agency for Personal Data Protection related to protection of names of indictees and convicts by the State Court and its Prosecution, the meeting participants concluded it was necessary to continue working on this issue.
Once again the AIS members raised the issue on whether announcing first and last names of indictees and convicts in public was in the best interest of the public and whether it instigated the collective guilt of one ethnic group or something like that.
In view of the current situation BIRN will continue contacting representatives of local and international institutions with an aim of getting the required answers.
Furthermore, the meeting participants discussed the current cooperation with the public relations sections of the Court and Prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Due to the impossibility to obtain audio recordings of hearings and get responses to journalists’ questions within the legally set timeframe, the meeting participants reached a conclusion to hold another series of meetings with spokespersons of those institutions in order to avoid misunderstandings and improve the mutual cooperation.
