One day after entering a not guilty plea before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Jakupovic reached an agreement with prosecutors. He admitted killing a detained member of the Croatian Defence Council, HVO, in a building in the village of Slimena, in the Travnik municipality, in June 1993. The proposed sentence is five to six years in prison.

Jakupovic was a member of the First Company with the First Battalion of the 17th Krajina Brigade of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“In making a proposal for the minimal and maximal sentence to be pronounced against the indictee, the prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina had in mind that the indictee was under the legal age at the time when the crime was committed. The proposed sentence is based on this fact,” said the announcement from state prosecutors.

Jakupovic agreed to give a statement expressing regret for the crime.

The agreement has been filed with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. If the court accepts, it will pronounce sentence against Jakupovic.

He is currently being held in the Penal and Correctional Facility in Banja Luka, where he is serving another sentence handed down by the Basic Court in Prijedor.
