At the trial for crimes committed in Kljuc Prosecution witness C told the Court that he survived the shooting in Sanski Most, after members of the Kljuc Battalion “handed me over to Arkan”.
“I remember that when they arrived in Humici village some soldiers gathered us in front of one house. They ordered us to raise our hands and turn away from them. The soldiers passed behind us. Then Marko Adamovic came and told us not to be scared,” witness C said.
He said the Humici village residents were released soon afterward, but they were taken away once again when the Army came. Men were taken to the local school building, where they were questioned.
Marko Adamovic, Vinko Kondic and Bosko Lukic are charged with participation in organizing a group of people and abetting them to commit genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes during the course of 1991 and 1992.
The indictment alleges that members of the Army and police forced the Muslim population of Pudin Han, Vukovo selo, Humici, Plamenica, Prhovo and Pec from their houses, looking for weapons, on May 28, 1992. Several people were killed on this occasion.
Protected witness C said that after he was questioned in the school building he and other Humici residents were taken to the Public Safety Station in Kljuc, where he was questioned again before being released. After that he was taken to other locations to perform civilian duties. Among other things, he was taken to Bihac battlefield to perform labour and cut wood.
“As they were withdrawing from the battlefield, the soldiers handed over 12 of us to Arkan in Sanski Most. They took us from the truck in pairs. They took me and some other man to a roofless garage. They took the cuffs off and took us to another room in which we saw two bodies. They shot at us. I was hit on my shoulder. Nobody but me survived,” witness C said.
This witness said that after he was wounded he managed to find the Kljuc Battalion once again, but he did not say when this happened. He said that a person named Djoko Mladjenovic helped him to be admitted to hospital in Banja Luka, which he left with a convoy about ten days later.
Prior to examination of this witness, the examination of witness Radenko Kuburic, which began at the hearing held on June 8, 2009, continued.
Kuburic was not able to confirm who was the Commander of the 17th Brigade, to which he belonged. He said, once again, that Adamovic once told him that he was going to Humici village in order “to protect women and children”.
The indictment alleges that Adamovic was Deputy Commander of the Kljuc Battalion of the Territorial Defence, TD, Lukic was Commander of the TD Command in Kljuc Municipality and Kondic was Chief of the Public Safety Station in Kljuc “for a certain period of time”.
The trial is due to continue on Monday, June 15.
